A collapse occurred at the summit vent in Kilauea volcano, Hawaii on 30th June. The collapse occurred at 1:38 PM (Hawaiian Standard Time) Tuesday afternoon, and blocked the summit vent. On 28th April 2009 there were reports of fumaroles on the northern sector of Descabezado Grande volcano, at various times of the day. Photos taken from Armerillo, 33 km SW of the volcano, showed elevated fine pale brown emissions from NE flank of the volcano. A magnitude 5.0 earthquake hit the south flank of Kilauea volcano on 14th April at 12:44 pm local time. The epicentre was 14 km south of the town of volcano, near Hilina Pali. Kilauea summit recorded weak deflation after the earthquake. In the past 25 years there have been 3 earthquakes over magnitude 5 in the same area of the volcano. Activity has increased at Anak Krakatau volcano in Indonesia. Between 19-23 March 2009, an average of 6 shallow volcanic earthquakes were measured per day, compared to 2 per day over the past year.
